The Wildlife Spatial Analysis Lab is dedicated to using advanced techniques in wildlife biology, geography, computer science, and ecology to study land-cover and land-use patterns at ecosystem and landscape scales.

Landscape and ecosystem scale effects are important factors in natural resource management decisions. Our goal at WSAL is to provide high quality broad scale analyses, assessments, models, and maps of vegetation and vertebrate distribution in order to provide the data needed for land managers to make informed decisions. WSAL is committed to using emerging technologies in satellite imagery, geographic information systems, and computer science. In addition, as part of the research arm of the University of Montana, the WSAL supports research by, and development of, students and GIS professionals in the fields of wildlife biology, landscape ecology, geography, computer science, and mathematics.
